Kristen Brown, MD

Dr. Kristen Brown, a board certified pediatrician, grew up in Palatine, Illinois. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-professional Studies. She then attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and graduated magna cum laude in 1995. She completed her post graduate training in pediatrics at Children's Memorial hospital. Upon completion of residency in 1998, she was thrilled to return to the northwest suburbs to practice pediatrics at North Arlington Pediatrics. Dr. Brown is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Her special interests in pediatrics are nutrition and obesity. Dr. Brown and NAP colleagues created a "Healthy Living Clinic" to educate children about nutrition and leading a healthy, active lifestyle. She enjoys guiding parents through each stage of their children's development-from breast-feeding newborns, toddler behavior, and school concerns to the sensitive changes of puberty and adolescence. Dr. Brown also serves as a health advisor to an Arlington Heights school and speaks about health issues to local children's groups.

In addition to her part-time work at NAP, she enjoys reading, running, and the joys and challenges of raising four children with her husband Dave. She is a room parent for her children's classes and often helps in the classroom. Dr. Brown believes that "being a pediatrician makes me a better mom and being a mom makes me a better pediatrician."
