Sick Visits
There undoubtedly will be a time when you will need to bring in your child for a sick visit. Our sick visits are scheduled on the same day so if you would like to bring your child in to be seen please call the office on the day you would like to come in. At NAP we are prepared to diagnose and treat a variety of typical childhood ailments from strep throat, influenza, mononucleosis, asthma to minor cuts and abrasions, and sprains. If you are unsure if your child needs to be seen or simply have questions on how to treat your sick child please feel free to consult our nurse educators by phone. If it is an emergency please call 911. We have several helpful internet links on our knowledge database page and FAQ on how to treat illnesses at home.
If you are bringing your child in for an appointment here are some tips:
- Be sure whomever is bringing your child in, is aware of the all the relevant information (temperatures, fluid intake, duration of symptoms, etc.)
- Be prepared to have your child's temperature and weight taken. For children under 1 a rectal temperature is advised, and any child who hasn't been seen in a while or has vomiting or diarrhea will have their weight done.
- Please feel free to treat your child's fever or pain (earache) with acetaminophen or ibuprofen prior to your visit. Treating your child's symptoms will make them more comfortable for their visit and will not alter their exam or treatment.
- Please clean and disinfect wounds, we do this at the office but sometimes it may be an hour or so before you make it to the office.
